Specialties of Leigh Welling:
Current responsibilities are to facilitate research in Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park and the surrounding ecosystem, provide science-based decision support for park managers, and coordinate education and outreach initiatives that transfer up-to-date knowledge about park resources to the public. Previous experience involved linking research, applications, and educational initiatives toward sustainable land use practices across the 5-state region of North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho. In addition, Dr. Welling served as co-chair of the Northern Great Plains sector for the National Assessment on the Impacts of Climate Variability and Change and was responsible for research, education, and public policy initiatives that bridged the gap between academic, governmental, and residential communities in the region. Education and outreach experience includes graduate and undergraduate level teaching, curriculum development that integrates natural and social sciences, in-service instructions
