I represent the Indigenous NGO Yachay Wasi based in Cuzco, Peru and New York, USA, at the United NATIONS. My interest in the Mountain Research Institute is because I promote and link to the International community: Yachay Wasi is the lead partner in a UN CSD Partnership for Sustainable Development entitled Recovery of the Circuit of Four Lakes, in the Peruvian Andes. This partnership is mentioned in the UN Secretary-General Report on Sustainable Mountain Development (Doc. A/62/292) and DESA 2008 report to the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (Doc. A/C.19/2008/4/Add.8). This project was also selected as a Best Practice in Sustainable Development by the ECOSOC NGO section in 2008.

Yachay Wasi started its Campaign of planting ONE MILLION NATIVE TREES in the Circuit of Four Lakes in the Peruvian Andes in mid-2008 and is a Planting Partner in UNEP Billion Trees Campaign

Yachay Wasi organized a Conference in April 2009: "INDIGENOUS SACRED SITES: Biodiversity and Spirituality" in theAndean village of Acopia, province of Acomayo, Dept of Cuzco, Peru.
Yachay Wasi is in consultative status with UN ECOSOC, associated with UN DPI and in Operational Relations with UNESCO.
